Good Times!

I'm feeling super happy today!  I love days like this when I'm happy for no reason.

Especially after the last week or so, when I was feeling grumpy for no reason.

I think it's a testament to working out.  After an absence of almost 2 months, I went back to the gym this week, and I really think that's why I'm feeling good about life today.  Gotta love those endorphins!

Also, I went golfing with my office this morning and it was gorgeous.  I took my camera along to document the occasion for work, but unfortunately I had it on the wrong setting, and didn't notice until it was too late.

Here are the few shots that turned out.

A Moment In An ADD Mind

It's 2pm and I just returned from lunch. Today is a busy day and I know I have a lot to get done before 5pm. I'm feeling the after-lunch high, so I'm ready to start a new task! I sit down at my desk and find 4 things in my immediate view:
  1. A letter and contract that is high priority and must be mailed out before 5pm.
  2. My laptop with the CD's I've been meaning to upload sitting on top of it.
  3. The monitor on my computer which is currently showing my Facebook page.
  4. My personal thumb drive with my annoyingly faded initials on it.
Here's my thought process and what happened (see if you can follow along):
Which one should I do first? The letter, definitely the letter. I turn to the letter and think just before picking it up, I should put this down in my timesheet first so I know exactly how long I worked on it, SHOOT! How is it already 2:15! What have I been doing for the last 15 minutes, I JUST sat down! As I'm thinking this, I scan my desk to figure out what I was doing and notice the laptop with the CD's. Man, I wanted to upload those CD's today. Maybe I'll start that first before I start the letter-NO. It's not as important as the letter, I'll just move it out of sight because it's annoying me sitting out like that. No! I don't have time for that and it's not even in my way. Just pick up the letter, Valerie. Just pick it up and-oh, that thumb drive is gonna get lost sitting at the edge of my desk like that. And without thinking - and I literally mean that - I pick up the thumb drive. Instead of dropping it into my waiting purse underneath the desk, I find my Sharpie and go to work tracing over my initials on the thumb drive. Half-way through tracing over the H, I realize what I'm doing. I put down the thumb drive and sharpie and turn my attentions back to the letter…which I suddenly can't find.

I panic.

I frantically scan my desk for where it could be and notice - once again - that the laptop is just sitting there like a sore thumb. My urge to move it comes back, and right before I reach for it I remember that I'm panicked for some reason. For no logical reason, instead of addressing my panicked feeling, I check my Facebook page to see if anyone has commented on my status update. There's something nagging at the back of my mind while I check Facebook, and I suddenly remember: The letter! AGAIN, I scan my desk, and this time I find the letter…

Right. Where. I left. It.

What the heck! I JUST looked there. What, is there some gremlin at my desk, moving my stuff around and confusing me all day? SHEESH. I hate this letter! I don't even want to touch it now. Where's my soda? Why is that thumb drive still sitting on the edge of my desk...

It is now 4pm…

(In case you thought I was making it up...)

Saying Goodbye to the Front Desk

So I moved to a new desk this week.  I've been working at my company for over 3.5 years, and have been at the same desk almost the entire time.  It was bittersweet to leave my old desk for a new location, but saying goodbye is never easy.  So, here's a tribute to my old friend, the front desk:

And what I'll miss the most....

Goodbye my old friend.  I'd like to say it's been great, but I won't.  Anywhere is better than the front desk!!
