Confessions of a Music Snob

So I consider myself to be a bit of a music snob.  I don't like to follow trends or listen to typical radio stations because I like the so-hot-it-hasn't-even-been-released-in-America-yet-and-will-burn-you-if-you-touched-it stuff.  It makes me feel cooler than everyone else when I know of bands long before they hit the major venues.

Not to sound smug, but I have connections...

Anyway, I think it's not a secret that even the snob-iest of music snobs has a guilty pleasure or two that they may be ashamed to admit.  Personally, I have a few that are so secret and shameful that I will take them to my grave (I have my dignity to uphold), but then there are the ones that I'm not so ashamed to admit that I like...

Today's guilty pleasure confession:  They Might Be Giants. (TMBG)

I love these guys...I can't remember when they weren't on my top 10 favorite bands, but my snobby music friends would not approve, so I don't mention them very often.  But today I honor TMBG's sheer awesomeness with the following videos from back in the day.

It's like something from Tim Burton...

Birdhouse in Your Soul - They Might Be Giants from They Might Be Giants on Vimeo.

Note the awesome 90's hair and guitar

The Statue Got Me High - They Might Be Giants from They Might Be Giants on Vimeo.

Ah, black and white music videos...

The Guitar (The Lion Sleeps Tonight) - They Might Be Giants from They Might Be Giants on Vimeo.

  1. Gotta love TMBG! Reminds me of high school big time.

Your reference to music snobbery reminded me of this awesome t-shirt.
